Avevo creato tempo fa questa guida per far funzionare correttamente la scheda audio TASCAM US122L su Ubuntu. Infatti funziona perfettamente su tutte le versioni di Ubuntu fino alla 12.10.
Ho installato in questi giorni Ubuntu Gnome 13.04 e purtroppo qui la guida non funziona. Quando avvio Jack dopo aver dato le stesse impostazioni che utilizzo da sempre mi da il seguente errore:

L'errore principale che mi pare di trovare è un segmentation fault.
Comunque, IMHO, è impossibile sperare di ottenere un sistema perfrormate e pientamente funzionante su una distro che, se non sbaglio, deve ancora essere rilasciata!
Fai però benissimo a effettuare questi test, potresti contattare sia gli sviluppatori di Alsa che di Jack e segnalare loro questo errore, in modo che possano lavorarci sopra (o magari ti dicono che è un errore noto in attesa di una patch).

Ho installato Cadence e dopo un milione di tentativi nelle impostazioni Jack parte ma non entra e non esce comunque nessun suono.. Io li contatterei gli sviluppatori ma non so bene l'inglese a tal punto Sad

Grazie. Dopo la preparo.
Se avvio jack (uso qjackctl) mi da l'errore precedente.
Cadence, che gestisce tutti i server audio contemporaneamente, ho inserito in Device/interface la voce usb_stream:3 che è la stessa voce già inserita in jack e corrisponde alla mia Tascam.
Ho controllato come ho impostato il tutto su Ubuntu 12.04 in Cadence ed è che la stessa voce è inserita in input e output device. Solo che se metto quelle voci in cadence su Ubuntu 13.04 jack non parte.

Ci sono degli sviluppi in peggio. Ora anche con le impostazioni con cui ero riuscito a far avviare jack tramite cadence, non si avvia più. E non ho fatto nulla se non provare altre impostazioni.
Non è che sia un problema di kernel? Io ho visto che ho il kernel 3.8.0-12 generic. Ho cercato il corrispondente PAE ma non l'ho trovato. E comunque potrei provare ad installare un kernel meno recente per vedere se funziona?

Sono riuscito nuovamente a far avviare jack ma non c'è nessun risultato sonoro. Se avvio Ardour parte correttamente ma il microfono non da segni di vita.

Se provo a cambiare i parametri jack non parte. Su Ubuntu 12.04 i parametri sono usb_stream:3 sia in input che in output device.
Un'altra cosa come si può vedere nelle connessioni delle porte di uscita non c'è nulla mentre di solito c'era in entrambe system..

Purtroppo non so aiutarti, ma sono quasi completamente sicuro che dipenda da un problema di stabilità del nuovo kernel: come ti dicevo la 13.04 è una versione ancora in sviluppo e perciò non avrà tutti i moduli perfattemente funzionanti, soprattutto quelli riguardanti cose così particolari come la gestione dell'audio a bassa latenza con hardware dedicato.
Ho ricevuto il tuo messaggio, ti faccio sapere appena ho preparato la traduzione così contattiamo gli sviluppatori e speriamo possano fare qualcosa in merito!

Adesso sono su Ubuntu 12.04 ma l'output comunque
cat /proc/asound/cards
me la riconosceva. Mi serviva quel comando per identificarla appunto e per aggiungere il numero nei parametri dell'interfaccia: usb_stream:3

Invece il primo comando che hai scritto non l'ho dato..

A una prima occhiata del dmesg sembrerebbe che il kernel abbia rilevato correttamente l'interfaccia.
Ma a che tipo di porta USB è collegata? è un Hub esterno?
In lsmod non mi sembra di vedere però, nella lista dei driver caricati, proprio snd_usb_us122l, che è quello in questione (nonostante dmesg dice che il kernel l'abbia creato e ci sono parecchi moduli che lo usano). Però potrei anche essermelo perso. Fa una cosa, rilancia lsmod in questo modo.

Il modulo sembra essere caricato correttamente, solo che non lo vedo collegato a snd_pcm:

Altra cosa pt-2: hai provato a disabilitare la scheda interna dal BIOS?

Di solito non avvio il pc con la scheda già collegata perchè ci metterebbe un paio di minuti in più ad avviarsi.
Quella interna non l'ho mai disabilitata perchè mi serve e non saprei come fare tra l'altro.

Il device non viene caricato correttamente nel kernel, lo vedi da quel "audit_printk_skb: 42 callbacks suppressed". Potrebbe essere un problema delle regole di udev.

Se osservi i messaggio di un kernel funzionante dovresti ricevere qualcosa tipo:

IL PC è un fisso o un portatile (dal dmesg sembra un portatile)? Hai collegato la scheda ad un hub usb o ad una porta "libera"?
